The mission of The Rise! is to help low-income adults who are recovering from the impacts of domestic violence, to secure permanent, safe and affordable housing; achieve economic security; and develop their capacities for self-determination.

The Rise!, which opened its doors in 1998, provides affordable housing for 28 low income, homeless families who have experienced domestic violence. It is a complex of  two and three bedroom apartments that can accommodate almost any family size.  All apartments come furnished with stove, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. Beds, dressers, sofas and other furnishings are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Utilities are also furnished with tenants paying for telephone and cable.  The cost of housing is based on the tenants’ ability to pay.

Programming offered through The Rise is designed to help free residents from a number of the constraints that so often impede transition from danger and dependence to self-determination.  Program efforts focus on giving the formerly dis-empowered the knowledge, skills, and confidence to take the power that is rightfully theirs to determine their own future.   On-site programming is offered at no cost to the participant.
