Ending Violence Together: a Biannual Community Conversation

April 24, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Free and open to the public - register HERE: https://form.jotform.com/CFRDForms/MCDVC2023SpringConference
We are transforming our bi-annual Ending Violence Together Conference into a bi-annual Community Conversation. We will center co-creation and power-sharing to skill up, collaborate with other community members, and collectivize toward individualized and community solutions to violence. Experts, activists, and friends will sit alongside those most impacted to dream toward the support of safety and the community we commit to building. Tables will be co-facilitated by young people in our community who are building skill sets in non-violent communication facilitation. Participants will attend two consecutive workshops on a single topic, followed by cross-talk between groups. We will spend the workshop time working on addressing compounding harms experienced by survivors of violence. You will be placed in a table topic group that reflects your registration selections for topics and collaborators. Please only select table topics that you find identification or allyship with.
Table Topics: Harm Reduction; Disability Justice; Trans Youth Rights; Reproductive Rights and Abortion access; Anti-Asian Violence; Early Childhood/Youth Empowerment
Our commitment is to move these conversations to action in our community. Because of this, we encourage everyone to attend with collaborators- such as friends, mentors, neighbors, or coworkers. We hope to have you sit with people you have already built some trust with. Please invite your people to register, and list the names of your desired co-participants below.
Session 1: 9-1015 am Barriers and Burrows (identifying shared values, understanding power and control/power mapping, community resource assessment)
Session 2: 1030-1130 am Building Bridges (Collective decision making and values alignment, individual and community safety planning)
In order to protect one another and make sure that the space is accessible for our immunocompromised and disabled friends, this will be a masked event. We ask that you wear a well-fitting KN95. Masks will be provided at the conference site.
