Our Response to COVID-19: Stay Healthy, Give Healthy

A Message Regarding COVID-19 to our Community:

STAY HEALTHY, GIVE HEALTHY!

During the public safety concerns surrounding COVID-19, we at Middle Way House are taking extra precautions. We are sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, light switches and door knobs every two hours. We are asking anyone entering the building to thoroughly wash their hands, get a temperature check and wear a mask. We are asking that employees who are sick please stay home. We are supporting our employees during personal challenges that may arise during this time and doing our utmost to keep all of our clients and employees healthy. We are continuing to observe social distancing in our offices, and have hand sanitizer available everywhere.

The demand for MWH services is high and will increase in the coming weeks. Our shelter was already operating at a 50% increase, and with our current community crisis, we expect a further increase of need. We have seen a rise in calls to our crisis line, as many are stuck at home with their abusers for longer amounts of time. Vulnerable populations are most at risk during times of crisis. We are now able to accept donations of used items again (as of 6/15)- please call first to find out our needs.  Financial support is very important for our agency to maintain service to those who depend on us.

We know there is an increase in domestic violence cases when schools are not in session, and we have increased concerns about shared spaces and gatherings (like in our emergency shelter’s shared bathrooms and kitchens), youth program demands (no school and the closure of many Summer programs equals more needs of children looking for stability during a difficult time including for regularly dependable meals), etc.

We thank you, our generous, sustaining donors for support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking as we work to keep everyone safe and healthy at this critical time.
