Each Spring we work on skilling ourselves and our community up in mediation and group facilitation- two skill sets that gives us the equipment to respond to harm before it turns into patterns that are hard to break and to network with one another toward safety and stronger community. (When harm is a pattern, we support folks in learning infrastructure for accountability- which we also offer workshops for). We loosely use Adrienne Marie Brown’s book “Holding Change” for this exploration of mediation and facilitation- but you can come to our practice space without having read the book. We do hope everyone who participates comes with ideas for role-play scenarios that might flourish with the specific types of facilitation/mediation that we are exploring in the week. You can expect to work in pairs and small group practicing facilitation and mediation styles. Practice will be messy/imperfect and and will move us toward growth in our own skills.
